Is it Finally Time to Say Goodbye to Tiger Woods’ Career?

Tiger Woods, one of the most successful golfers of all time, has reportedly dropped out of the next two tournaments due to back spasms.  This has not been the first for Woods, who in recent years has had to have multiple surgeries.   Woods is only 41, but he has not had success for a long time.  Is it finally time to say that Woods will never become the best again?  Is Tiger Woods’ recent surgeries an indicator that he cannot become the golfer he once was?

Tiger Woods has not won a major for a long time.

Woods has won 14 majors, which is second all-time.  However, Woods has not won a major since 2008, when Tiger won the U.S Open.  Tiger has not won a major since Bush was in office.  8, almost 9 years ago, that is a long time, especially in sports.  If Tiger Woods has not won a major for that long, what will change my mind that he will win another.

Multiple Injuries

Tiger Woods has a history of injuries.  Most recently, it has been his back.  Woods has had 3 back surgeries in the last 16 months.  Woods has repeatedly dropped out of tournaments, because of back spasms.  Since Tiger’s last major win, he has had ACL, MCL, elbow, an inflamed facet joint in his neck, and pinched nerves injuries.  Tiger Woods wanted to become a NAVY SEAL, and is tough.  However, injuries pile on top of other injuries, and Woods has got smothered by them all.  It is very unlikely for Woods to come back, especially from all of those injuries, and become the best golfer once again.

Surrounded by Controversy

Everyone knows about Tiger Woods’ scandals.  A report went around that he was seeing someone else, and finally he admitted it, then a dozen or so women came out and said that they had relationships with Tiger, and he again admitted it.  Woods got divorced not to long after that, and multiple sponsors dropped him.  He did not play anymore golf for the remaining year, and is held as one of the top controversies in sports.  This certainly does not help a player become better, and it all happened around 2009, and he still has not won a major since.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Tiger Woods was talented, arguably one of the most talented golfers in the world, but now, he is just a name, a has been.  People mention Tiger, and talk about his career, but no one considers him the best anymore.  Manly because of his long win drought, his injuries and his controversies point to the end of his career.  Well, there you have it, fellow Sports Reaction’ists, and remember, be the best sports fan you can be.
