Show me the Money: Sports Headlines Reactions 3/1/17

It is Wednesday, and currently I am in a hotel in Oklahoma, the perfect way to spend the middle of your week.  However, it could be worse, a top player on a top team could have gotten injured.  Oh, wait, that did happen.  Maybe this is just like any other weekday.  These headlines may be exciting, or terrible news to you, depending on your interest.

“Eric Berry signed a six year deal with the Chiefs”

Eric Berry said earlier this week that negotiations were not going well.  In a quick amount of time, Berry signed a $78 million, six year, $40 million garuenteed and a $20 million signing bonus.  This was a big pay day to a top safety, and it ended well for both teams.  We will see if the money was worth it for the Chiefs.

“Kevin Durant sprains MCL”

KD is down with an injury, and it looks like a serious one.  Kevin Durant is out inevitably, and will be checked in 4 weeks.  This is a devastating, and nasty injury for Durant, who is not getting any younger.  But the biggest storyline of the future will be to see the effect his injury has on the Warriors.  I recently wrote an article about the Warriors not being invincible, and now this will only make that a reality.

“NFL salary cap raised”

The NFL salary cap was raised to $167 million, which is $12 million more per team.  Previously, the salary cap was set at $155.27 million.  These teams will definitely see the benefit of these cap increase.  $12 million is a lot of money, and teams that have been stuck in a cap crisis will definitely use this money to good use.
