When I started Sports Reaction, I never thought that I would actually have an article talking about shoes, but here we are. If you by chance are one of the few people who have not heard the news, and controversy around Lonzo Ball’s shoes, you may be kind of confused. Lonzo Ball, former UCLA basketball star started his new shoes, called the ZO2. They do not look bad, and original predictions for the price of the shoe was around $200. However, those predictions did not come true. You can have your own pair of ZO2’s, but you will be shorted a half a grand. Because these new shoes come with a price tag of $495.
Many sports fans are astounded by the high cost, saying it is ridiculous for Ball to have his shoes so expensive. Newscasters, former NBA stars, current NBA stars are expressing their opinions about the whole situation. Most of them have the opinion that the shoes are too expensive.
However, Lavar Ball says that it is totally justified, because Ball is a star, and that the shoes are just that great. So there is this big debate going back, and forth about these ZO2’s, and it is about time for Sports Reaction to jump into this surprising sports debate.
Before we begin, it is important for you to note that shoes are really important for NBA stars. Shoes have been the top products that NBA stars, and is kind of a sign of how “good” they are. Not that the shoe changes anything, but it has been something that the top players have done.
“The shoes are too expensive.”
This seems to be the main opinion, and yes, they are expensive. I mean, almost 500 bucks for one pair of shoes is not something that everyone can afford. So yes, they are expensive. However, a lot of “Super Star” products are expensive, so really, that is not the whole issue. If Lebron James had a pair of shoes for sale at a cost of $500, it probably would not be discussed much. But Lonzo Ball has not played in the NBA. He is not even on an NBA team yet.
So the main issue that people have is that these shoes are way too expensive for a player who has not played in a single NBA game. Since shoes have been a sign of NBA dominace for players, it is considered to be absurd for Ball to sell his shoes for such a high price.
However, it is his choice, and product, and Ball can set the price however high he wants too. It may not be the smartest decision in a business sense, but he has every right to have the shoes cost $495. I am not going to buy these shoes, as will most people, but if you want to pay that much money for them, then go right ahead. I personally wish that this discussion, and debate about these shoes will die! I think most sports fans are tired about this whole controversy. If you want to buy the shoes, go ahead, but if you want to save your money, then save your money. It is as simple as that. Now lets leave the shoe price debate to the clothing, and manufacturing people. That is it, Sports Reactionists, and remember, be the best sports fan you can possibly be.
