4 Quick Things You Need to Know about the Jerry Jones Fine!

The NFL has swooped upon Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, seeking to fine Jerry Jones millions, and millions of dollars, and it is all because of Roger Goodell…Or is all of that a bunch of bologna? Here is everything you need to know about the Jerry Jones Fine.

It’s not really a fine…It’s a Reimbursement

There is a rule, deep in the books, that says that if an owner brings litigation against any of the other owners, he must reimburse legal fees.  So really, all of the news headlines saying “JERRY JONES GETTING FINED!” are misleading.  It is a reimbursement for legal fees, not a spontaneous fee.

What Legal Fees is Jones Reimbursing?

Like I said above, Jones is reimbursing legal fees…Which ones?  First, Jerry Jones is repaying the league for all of the legal fees of the Ezekiel Elliot suspension.  Then, more importantly, Jones is having to repay the league for all the legal fees/expenses they had when Jones was threatening to sue the NFL (which never happened).

The Owners Brought the “Fine” against Jerry Jones

Contrary to the headlines, and common belief, the reimbursement is not being forced by Roger Goodell…It is being driven by the owners.  Not only is that a fact, but that is the only way that these ‘fines’ could have been brought against Jones.  So this is not a revenge act by Goodell, although Goodell probably supports what the owners are doing.

How Much?

It is expected to exceed 2 million dollars, although nothing is official at the moment.

Well, that is all the news on the Jerry Jones situation, for the moment.  Sorry this article is not longer, but I am writing this late at night, so that is MY fabulous excuse.  However, what do you think, SR Nation?  Put your opinion in the comment section below, and remember, be the best Sports Fan you can possibly be, and do WLYF!

  • JJ doesn’t mind all of this, not one bit. It’s publicity, and he loves him some publicity. No matter what kind. If anything, he probably sees this as a coup for him, seeing as how this all started as a result of him protecting one of his own. Not the worst selling point for prospective free agents . . .
